While some production companies contract crew members who work exclusively with digital media, we find that the end product is always enhanced when you have a team of broadcast professionals at the helm. For that reason, 090 Media only uses trusted crew members with years of broadcast experience.

Reliable Backhaul Standards

While the standard for some live streaming providers might be a single video encoder at the event location, 090 leverages broadcast backhaul standards whenever possible. Typically, satellite or video fiber is used as a solid, reliable primary path back to our cloud transcoding platform, with IP-based backhaul methods or on-site encoding providing a backup.

Our NewTek Tricaster based systems go anywhere and fit any budget and we have Tricaster-certified operators on staff. There are many other ways we can provide more bang for your buck, too. On a broadcast production, each crew member has a specific job. With some live streaming productions, though, the budget just doesn’t allow for such specialization. We’re not afraid to wear many hats. We’ve been working with challenging budgets for almost two decades. We’re used to it!

Sometimes, the parameters of a live event don’t allow for broadcast backhaul methodologies to be used. That’s when we break open our arsenal of streaming-specific solutions. Whether it’s fixed wireless, bonded LTE, VSAT or even reengineering the on-site network to support the event, we’ll get the feed where you need it to be.

Redundancy Standards

When the convergence of live streaming and broadcast began and we first started following broadcast workflows, we couldn’t believe anything ever made in on the air. Compared to the world of servers and switches and data centers, practically nothing in broadcast was redundant. As things continue to converge, that’s getting better and 090 Media is leading the way. We maintain a keen eye toward redundancy in everything we do. Just like any world-class service provider, five 9’s is our goal!

In the live broadcast world, workflows are tailored toward visionary creative minds, highly-skilled technicians, efficient production and immediate action when anything goes sideways. When the distribution for that content is traditional broadcast, things tend to go smoothly because everyone from end to end understands what’s at stake.

With live streaming, though, you’re relying on a content delivery network (CDN) or social video platform like YouTube or Facebook Live to deliver your event to your audience. Then, you have the potential for disconnect. The priorities of these companies are simply different than those of broadcasters. They want to provide a reliable platform for millions of users. At that scale, individual live events just aren’t a top priority. Unless the audience for your live event is massive, the CDN’s support team may not even be aware of it at all. And some platforms offer no official support channels whatsoever.

That’s where 090 comes in.

We speak both broadcast-ese and CDN-ese fluently. We understand who to talk to, what to say and how to help them help you. Most importantly, we have long-standing relationships with every major CDN and video platform in the industry and that affords us the ability to work miracles when something goes awry on the distribution end.

Maybe we’ve been lucky to be able to find success without focusing on volume. That’s how we’ve always done it, though, and that will never change.
